Title:Economic integration of european countries and its impact on the position of the EU on the world commodity market

Annotation:Methods. The results of the study were obtained using the following methods: abstraction – in determining the advantages of the EU as an integration association; analysis and synthesis – in substantiating the prospects for Ukraine's participation in the EU's international economic cooperation; grouping – in identifying the economic areas of the EU's activities; statistics and graphical analysis – in assessing the indicators of international trade between the EU and other countries of the world. Results. The article identifies the benefits of economic integration within the European Union for the protection of European countries' external borders, national and common interests, and expansion of opportunities for participation in global commodity markets. It is found that with each stage of economic integration, EU countries faced new economic, social, and political challenges and at the same time received new prospects for economic development. The article highlights the main economic areas of EU activity in the areas of economy, financial and monetary relations; employment and social justice; investment and economic growth; competition and market; customs and taxes; regional support of member states; innovative development, research and development, space, national security and border protection. It is shown that in close cooperation and due to cohesion, joint problem-solving, the EU countries receive additional funding and investments, have significant comparative advantages, and expand their spheres of influence on the world stage. The authors analyzed the structure of EU revenues and expenditures, highlight the priorities of economic development at the present stage, and compare the economic performance of EU countries with the rest of the world. The authors monitored the EU's participation in global commodity markets, analyzed the main export and import flows, areas and positions of the EU countries in international trade, and groups of traded goods. The problems and promising directions of Ukraine's participation in interstate cooperation with the EU in the context of obtaining the status of a candidate for accession to the European integration organization are highlighted. Novelty. In the course of monitoring the economic and social effects of the EU's functioning as a regional integration association, the main advantages and potential opportunities of the member states from economic integration within the association are highlighted. The economic directions of the EU's activities for the development of the member states are highlighted. The author identifies promising areas of international cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the modern period. Practical value. The authors propose promising ways to expand economic cooperation and interstate cooperation between the European Union and Ukraine in the direction of restoring the Ukrainian economy, as well as guidelines for reforms on the path to EU accession.
