| Annotation: | Methods. The results presented in the article were obtained by applying the following methods: analysis – in terms of considering the characteristics of the market of producers of metallurgical products in Ukraine; analysis and synthesis – when considering the state of the steel production market in the world and in Ukraine, as well as the impact of globalization trends in the early 2020s; statistical reporting in matters of building trends in the development of individual enterprises of the metallurgical market in Ukraine. Results. At the beginning of the 2020s, the metallurgical industry in Ukraine continues to be one of the key ones for the national economy. Accordingly, it remains important to analyze the global challenges of the beginning of the new millennium that affect it. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 somewhat slowed down the development of the metallurgical sector in Ukraine, while simultaneously creating a deferred demand for metal products that will need to be satisfied in the next two to three years. The signing of the Paris Climate Agreement by Ukraine in 2016 sets a longer vector for the development of both the national economy in general and the metallurgical industry in particular. Particularly important in the next decade for the Ukrainian economy will be structural reforms aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. Metallurgy must become more environmentally friendly than it is now. Only in this case will Ukraine be able to fulfill its international obligations. At the same time, the problem of finding new sales markets for metal products both within the state and in foreign markets remains urgent. Novelty. Analyzing the information provided by the «Ukrtruboprom» Group over the past few years, the authors have identified certain trends in the development of enterprises in the metallurgical industry of Ukraine. They make it possible to better understand some patterns of the influence of global challenges on the development of domestic metallurgy. Practical value. The article presents three global trends of the beginning of 2020, which will significantly affect the development of metallurgy in Ukraine until 2030. Whether positive or negative, this influence will largely depend on the managerial skills of company leaders and government authorities to make the right decisions in conditions of permanent uncertainty. |
