Author:Yudenko V. I., Dnipro University of Technology
Annotation:Methods. In the process of studying the retrospective analysis of intellectual capital and its creative component, the following general scientific methods were applied: scientific abstraction – when establishing the essence of the concept of «intellectual capital», historical and logical – when studying the development of the process of scientific research in the field of studying the phenomenon of «capital» and identifying its forms, as well as the grouping method – when identifying the stages of evolution of views on intellectual capital. Results. A retrospective analysis of the evolution of views on intellectual capital, as well as existing approaches to its definition and classification, are conducted in the article. Given the theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of this category, the stages of the evolution of scientific thought in its study are highlighted. The essence of intellectual capital is considered, its place among all other forms of capital assets is shown. Attention is focused on the fact that the categorical formulation of the concept of «intellectual capital» occurred through the development of ideas about the capital of classical political economy and Marxism, the importance of investing in labor force of the neoclassical approach and the theory of human capital of T. Schultz and G. Becker. The role of intellectual capital in the activities of modern enterprises (micro level) and the functioning of the creative economy (macro level) is demonstrated. Novelty. The novelty of this study can be considered the allocation of stages of evolution of the scientific development of the category of «intellectual capital», which is based on the application of methodological criterion. Practical value. The results of the study have both theoretical and practical significance. Understanding the historical context of the study of intellectual capital allows us to realize the stages and continuity of economic ideas, as well as the change in methodological approaches in the study of certain phenomena and processes. From a practical point of view, knowledge of the patterns of capital development through the isolation of its historically determined forms is useful for effective management of companies and the achievement of economic goals by management.
