Annotation:	The features of machine building industry in Ukraine are examined. Trends in key economic indicators of machine building are considered, namely the share of machine building in industry, the dynamics of exports and imports, the cost-effectiveness of machine building companies and their profitability are analysed. The problems functioning of domestic machine building are defined and the priority directions of its development are formulated.
