Title: | Pension reform in Ukraine and its prospects |

Annotation: | Methods The following methods were used: abstraction – in determining the essence of pension reform, disclosing the essence of its main stages; analysis and synthesis – for in-depth study of the mechanism of pension reform, analysis of the current pension system, development of measures to improve pensions and pension insurance; analogies – when comparing and comparing pension reforms carried out in other countries with the reform in our country; generalization – to find optimal mechanisms for implementing certain elements of foreign pension reforms in Ukraine to improve the welfare of vulnerable groups, especially retirees. Results. The article presents a general description of the current state of the pension system of Ukraine and highlights the main directions of its reform. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the functioning solidary pension system, the size of pension benefits by type of pension is analyzed, the shortcomings of the solidary pension system are highlighted. The essence of accumulative pension provision as the second stage of pension reform is revealed, the mechanism of accumulation is characterized and its efficiency is shown. Considerable attention is paid to the need to introduce private pension insurance and its positive aspects, the example of foreign countries shows its feasibility and effectiveness. A comparative analysis of the pension system of Ukraine and foreign countries was conducted, and on this basis, proposals were made to increase the effectiveness of pension reform in Ukraine. Novelty. Proposals for the introduction of funded pension provision and private pension insurance will help improve the welfare of the population and the state of the country’s economy as a whole. Practical value. The analysis of the state of pension provision will provide an opportunity to accelerate the implementation of pension reform in the direction of the introduction of private pension insurance. The results of the study can be used to increase the financial literacy of Ukrainian citizens. |
