| Annotation: | Methods. The results that are given in the article are obtained by applying the following methods: analysis – in terms of considering the characteristics of the market for manufacturers of metallurgical products (including pipe products) in Ukraine; analysis and synthesis – when considering the state of the steel production market in the world and in Ukraine, as well as the impact of globalization trends in the early 2020s; statistical reporting in matters of building trends in the development of individual enterprises of the metallurgical market in Ukraine. Results. The metallurgical industry in Ukraine in 2021 continued to be one of the key ones for the national economy. Accordingly, it is also important to analyze the global challenges of the beginning of the new millennium that affect it. The research shows that the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021 somewhat slowed down the development of the metallurgy sector in Ukraine, while at the same time creating pent-up demand for metal products, which will need to be met in the next two to three years. There is proved the importance of structural reforms aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere in the next decade for the Ukrainian economy. Metallurgy should become more environmentally friendly than it is now. Only in this case Ukraine will be able to fulfill its international obligations. At the same time, the problem of finding new sales markets for metal products both within the state and in foreign markets remains relevant. The full development of the metallurgical industry in Ukraine is impossible without a powerful sector of applied scientific research. Further stable development of such institutions is the basis for the development of the metallurgical industry of Ukraine in the future. Novelty. Analyzing the information provided by «Ukrtruboprom» Group of Companies over the past five years, the author identified certain trends in the development of enterprises in the metallurgical industry of Ukraine. They make it possible to better understand some patterns of the impact of global challenges on the development of the domestic metallurgy and, in particular, the pipe industry. Practical value. The article presents some results of the economic activities of pipe enterprises in 2021, which will significantly affect the development of metallurgy in Ukraine. Whether this impact will be positive or negative largely depends on the managerial skills of company executives and government authorities to make the right decisions in the face of permanent uncertainty. |
